Our sales policy

At Heartland Homestead & Rabbitry, we are committed to finding the best homes for our rabbits. This policy outlines our guidelines and what you can expect when purchasing from us.

We are a small, family-run closed rabbitry, dedicated to raising healthy, well-socialized rabbits for loving pet homes. Maintaining a closed rabbitry is a deliberate choice that prioritizes the health, safety, and well-being of both our rabbits and our family—allowing us to provide you with the healthiest bunny possible.

Please take a moment to carefully review the Adoption & Sales Policy below before moving forward.

All adoptions and sales are governed by this policy, regardless of whether it has been read in full. By reserving or purchasing a bunny, you acknowledge and agree to this policy in its entirety. This policy may be updated at any time.

Reservation & Deposits

To reserve a bunny, please send us a message letting us know which bunny you’re interested in, along with any questions you may have. If you decide the bunny is the right fit, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your bunny (see QR codes below).

We understand concerns about online payments. Many families prefer to use PayPal Goods & Services instead of Friends & Family. This is completely fine, but please remember that if using Goods & Services, the processing fee should be added to the total amount sent.

Please note: A bunny is not considered reserved until the deposit has been received.

Remaining Balance Due

  • Local pickup: At pickup
  • Transport: at 8 weeks of age, even if transport occurs later

If I send a payment reminder and do not hear back within 3 days, I will assume the bunny is no longer being reserved and will begin the rehoming process. Deposits are only refunded if something unforeseen happens to the bunny while still in my care.

For transported rabbits, payment in full is required 24 hours prior to placement on transport.

Pedigree

All rabbits in my program are pedigreed unless otherwise specified.

Bunnies sold at pet price do not include a pedigree.

Transport Options

Long-distance transport is arranged at the buyer’s discretion. I am happy to recommend trusted transporters and assist with coordination. I am also open to new, reputable transporters, though I reserve the right to decline any transporter I am not comfortable with.

Once a bunny is placed on transport, I am no longer responsible for its health or well-being.

There is no boarding fee for bunnies waiting until 10–12 weeks for transport. If transport is delayed beyond 3 weeks, a care and boarding fee of $25 per week may apply.

For local pickups delayed beyond the originally scheduled date, boarding is $25 per week, charged in full for any portion of the week.

Health

All bunnies are healthy to the best of my knowledge at the time they leave my care. We can do a brief health check together at pickup. Once a bunny is in your care, responsibility transfers to the buyer.

Rabbits are sensitive animals, and I cannot guarantee long-term health, show potential, weight, fertility, production, or temperament. I am not responsible for veterinary expenses at any point during the bunny’s life. That said, I am always happy to help answer questions or offer guidance.I reserve the right to hold a bunny longer if I feel it is in their best health interest.

Gender

Gender is visually assessed at birth, at 4 weeks, and weekly thereafter. While I am typically very accurate, young rabbits can develop differently and gender is not always 100% guaranteed.

Refunds are not offered for gender changes after a bunny leaves my care. If a correction is made while still in my care, I do offer a gender-related refund. Your happiness—and your bunny’s happiness—are always important to me.

Transition Feed

Each bunny goes home with a bag of transition feed. I currently feed Manna Pro 16% Rabbit Feed which can be conveniently purchased at Tractor Supply and some Feed Stores.

Final Notes

Your deposit confirms that you have read, understand, and agree to this adoption policy in full. I reserve the right to refuse a sale or return a deposit if I feel a placement is not the right fit.

Thank you for taking the time to review our policy and for considering Heartland Homestead & Rabbitry.
